The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This is a hard book for me to rate and review. It frustrated me because out of all the characters I think I maybe liked 2 (Yay Harry and Celia!). And when you aren't really loving the characters or connecting with them, it makes it hard to really enjoy the book the way you want to.
I was super excited to read this one because I absolutely loved Taylor Jenkins Reid's book One True Loves. LOVED it. So I was ready for all the feels in this book. But it just didn't happen for me. I loved the idea of the story. I was intrigued with Evelyn and really liked that she didn't sit around waiting for life to find her. She went and MADE the life she wanted. Now *how* she went about making that life... I wasn't really thrilled with. She hurt a lot of people while chasing her dreams and I don't like that.
I do like Reid's writing style. It's very easy to read and not overly deep- like the kind you would read on a rainy day or sitting on the beach. The story flowed and I was compelled to continue reading. I wanted to know the details of each marriage and why she did what she did. I would recommend it because obviously I'm in the minority with my non-five star rating and because it wasn't bad. It was fine. And sometimes fine is, well, fine. ;)
