Dumplin' by Julie Murphy

Dumplin'Dumplin' by Julie Murphy
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I've had several friends read Dumplin' but I hadn't. I actually watched the Netflix movie first and just totally enjoyed it, so I figured I should finally read the book. I think I liked the book even more. I love the message in this book even though some people seem to think it's hypocritical. I didn't feel that way at all while reading it. What female doesn't have a love/hate relationship with her body? What female isn't totally aware of her own flaws, yet mentally still point out flaws in others to make herself feel a little better? We all do it whether we admit it or not (or at least I hope I'm not alone on this... lol) Millie was probably my favorite character in the book- or Bo. Or Mitch- bless his heart. I thought there were a lot of great characters I could connect with in one way or another. Overall, I think this book is a good reminder that all people are feeling insecure or inadequate about some aspect of their life, so just BE NICE.
